Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any hidden fees?
No, our goal is to make architecture accessible and uncomplicated with our flat-fee of $1850 and rapid turnaround rate. If you wish you keep us in the process after your new floor plans are delivered (i.e for permitting), we charge an hourly fee of $150. It doesn’t get simpler than that!
Do I have to sign a contract?
No, our agreement is an acknowledgement page, we encourage you to read it and check the box.
In which stage of the process is the $1850 due?
We ask that you pay 1/2 of the bill ($925) after receiving your existing drawings (Step 1). The other half of the bill should be payed within 30 business days of the final floor plan delivery. Failure to pay within this time period is subject to a 2.5% late fee per every 30 days past due.
How long should I expect the SketchHaus Bundle to take?
After inputting your information underneath our “Sign Up” tab, you will be asked to select a date and time for us to come out to create the digitized scan of your home. After we scan your home, we will typically deliver your existing drawings within 3-5 business days. Once you have received your drawings, we will schedule a consultation call at both parties earliest convenience. Following the consultation call, we will get started on your final floor plan which is delivered in an average of 5-10 business days. Ideally, the whole process will take under two weeks time.
What happens after the SketchHaus Bundle is complete?
You will be left with enough information to start to bid out to contractors and builders for pricing. If you are only doing interior renovation, the SketchHaus bundle can act as your permit document. Exterior renovations will require a bit more work for the city’s permit approval. If you desire our assistance in additional services (i.e. permitting, site plans), we will work with you at an hourly rate of $150.
I already have drawings of my home, can we skip step 1 of the SketchHaus Bundle?
If you want to do a remodel or an addition, a designer first has to measure your existing home— this is a vital step in the design process. Our point cloud scanning technology provides an accurate model for our team to review when creating your drawings. It is vital that we create your existing drawings so that there is no room for error or guesswork when creating your final design. We want to get your ideas on paper and out for pricing as soon as possible, therefore, the first step is an essential part of the process.
Do you work with shipping container homes?
Yes, however there is a common misconception about the cost of construction around shipping containers, so we want to make sure you first understand the full implications and values that are associated with shipping container homes. Give us a call, and we would be happy to talk further.
If I have a piece of land that I want to build on, can you design the drawings?
We have a limited amount of availability for new construction projects. It requires a different process that does not easily fit into the SketchHaus Bundle. However, if you are unsure the SketchHaus Bundle will be of assistance to you, please give us a call and ask!
